Inspectors judge Three Rivers Academy as “good” in every category
Ofsted has praised the way that “expert staff” at a Hersham school are ambitious for all their students. Following a two-day visit, inspectors judged Three Rivers Academy as “good” in every category.
The report notes that since the previous inspection, the school has faced a number of external challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it has successfully maintained “its resolute focus to progress” in the face of shifting circumstances.
Inspectors found the school to be a community where people work together, are respectful to one another and aspirational for the future. Specifically, the report notes that:
- Pupils are happy and safe – with a constructive school atmosphere and effective safeguarding. Behaviour is good across the school, with the behaviour-management policy applied consistently
- Pupils achieve highly – as the result of a broad and balanced curriculum. Reading is a focus for all
- The school is ambitious for all pupils - the inspectors note that “everyone receives detailed careers information, education, advice and guidance to help plan their next steps”
- Teachers support students well – with staff accurately identifying “the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), including those in the specially resourced provision for pupils with SEND”
- Staff feel valued – because the school prioritises personal development and thoughtfully considers workloads
Three Rivers Academy is part of the Howard Partnership Trust, a values-driven multi-academy trust which aims to bring out the best in every child in their schools.
Barbara Mayaire, Principal of Three Rivers Academy, said: “We seek to create a school community where every pupil is stretched to achieve their potential. We do this by understanding every young person’s needs and working hard to support them. As this report shows, this vision is now a real and tangible reality.
“Three Rivers is a community where staff and students work together respectfully. Older students serve as great role models. Staff work hard to create a nurturing atmosphere. Students commit to maintaining a calm and orderly environment. We are pleased to celebrate this success with the wider community and will continue to work together to take Three Rivers Academy to even greater levels of success.”
Three Rivers Academy is a vibrant, caring and inspiring school. It places learning at the heart of everything it does and believes that every child should flourish and enjoy their education. Students and staff enjoy access to spacious, modern and outstanding facilities. From vast and bright classrooms to state-of-the-art sports and performing arts facilities, the school’s environment allows students to excel and access 21st century learning.
